What is it about?
The Fast Track program is a mental health program designed to prevent children from acting aggressively, committing crimes, and getting arrested. To do so, it taught children and their parents skills to help children solve problems, make friends, and achieve well academically from 1st-10th grade. This study investigated whether Fast Track's benefits could be passed across generations. This study found that some benefits could be passed across generations. Children of Fast Track participants used fewer inpatient medical services and fewer mental health services than children of parents who did not participate in Fast Track. This study demonstrates that child mental health interventions could have effects that ripple across generations.
