What is it about?
Institutional care for young children is associated with difficulties in functioning across domains. This study examined nearly two decades of data from institutionalized children who participated in a randomized controlled trial of foster care as an alternative to institutional care. We found persistent positive effects of family placements across development, though the magnitude of effects varied by domain and wave.
