Why is it important?
Formation of cis derivative is very rare in Darzen's epoxidation. We have herein reported crystal structure of the cis-[3-(2-Chloro-6-methylquinolin-3-yl)oxiran-2-yl]- (p-tolyl)methanone that was synthesized by us using simple conditions.
Perspectives

Darzen's condensation has been exploited for the first time to 2-chloroquinoline-3-carbaldehydes to synthesize epoxides using simple conditions to get both cis and trans derivatives. The formation of products are confirmed by 1H and 13C NMR, HRMS and X-ray Crystallography.
