Dr Richard Pauptit, over the course of his scientific career, made significant impact on the field of protein crystallography. Many people will have collaborated with Richard, read his papers, listened to his lectures, organised meetings with him and enjoyed his company and will remember these interactions with fondness. This obituary serves to celebrate his life and communicate the respect we hold for Richard.
