You will be analytical, and have excellent attention to detail, compelling and persuasive written communication skills, and a track record of working relatively autonomously to deliver projects on schedule and on budget.

You'll need to be technically savvy, as you'll use a variety of systems. Experience of the academic sector would be an advantage (training will be given in both cases).

The Marketing Executive reports to the Head of Marketing, and is responsible for planning, implementing and reviewing marketing and communications activities, to increase awareness and engagement with Kudos' services for customers groups including researchers, universities and publishers.

The Marketing Executive will be based at our Oxford office (3&4 Ashurst Court, London Road, Wheatley OX33 1ER); remote working may be considered for the right candidate.


Responsibilities

  • Developing marketing plans in conjunction with the Head of Marketing and other members of the Kudos team
  • Undertaking day-to-day implementation of marketing and communications, including but not limited to:
    • Direct marketing to drive acquisition of Kudos users
    • Engagement marketing, e.g. multi-touch and multi-channel campaigns to build awareness and usage of product features
    • Advocacy marketing, e.g. devising an incentive program to encourage and reward word-of-mouth recommendations
    • Lead generation, including contact research / licensing and execution of email and social media campaigns using service providers such as Mailchimp, Customer.io, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
    • Copywriting and managing execution of communications including information sheets, brochures, infographics, videos, webinars, email / social media campaigns etc
    • Managing production of artwork and, where appropriate, fulfillment of print materials
    • Public relations activities including writing of press releases, media communications, media list research, placement of PR opportunities etc
    • Researching and analyzing customer sentiment / behaviours (preferences, needs, expectations and perceptions)
    • Reporting on all the above activities and related budgets / KPIs.
    • Search engine marketing (Google Ads, SEO)
    • Managing the yearly events schedule (workshops, conferences, exhibitions) - coordinating the submission of abstracts, sponsorship negotiations and the printing and shipping of booth stands and materials
    • Advocate proper use of Kudos branding across all communication channels, and within the internal team

The role will likely involve some travel, which is estimated at 5% of your time.


Requirements

Experience of publishing or academia would be an advantage. CIM qualifications and / or a degree are preferred. Your CV should demonstrate:

  • Excellent, straightforward written English and attention to detail
  • Structure and creativity in your approach to copywriting / marketing communications more broadly
  • Enthusiasm for new technologies
  • Examples of:
    • Marketing planning
    • Project management
    • Engagement marketing (generating high volume usage of web services)
    • Setting and reporting on targets
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
  • The ability to align with and support sales activities / teams
  • Confidence, passion, ambition and self-motivation
  • The ability to work well in a team, and by yourself
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for "getting the job done" whatever tasks are required
  • Computer and web literacy, including MS Office, email systems, Google Analytics and more
  • Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign in particular) would be beneficial
  • Experience in using Google Ads (PPC) and Google Webmaster tools (SEO) would be beneficial
  • Good knowledge of GDPR

Salary and benefits

This is a full-time role with a salary of up to £28,000 pa and 25 days' annual leave.
